Petronas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Halliburton Energy (M) Sdn Bhd for the development of quality and skilled workforce in the local oil and gas industry.
In a statement on Wednesday, Petronas said following the MOU, the two parties would explore collaboration opportunities in the areas of research and development, staff attachment programme, student sponsorship, internship as well as supervision of post-graduate students and technical trainees.
"Petronas and Halliburton Energy would also collaborate in conducting lectures and seminars via Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) to enhance the understanding of the industry.
"Halliburton Energy will continue participating in UTP's adjunct lectures programme in support of student development initiatives at the university," it said.
Petronas said the MOU would significantly contribute towards positioning Malaysia as a regional education and learning hub for the oil and gas industry.
