Aker Solution to Invest RM266m in Subsea Business

Norwegian oil service group, Aker Solution ASA will invest US$87 million (RM266 million) in its subsea business, which will see capacity of its manufacturing plants in Tranby, Norway and Port Klang doubling.

A new service base will also be established in Labuan in July this year to support the installed and future deepwater projects in Asia-Pacific. Some 80% of the investments will be made this year, including the purchase of new machines, equipment and tooling. The remaining investments will continue next year and in 2014.

Malaysia is Aker Solution’s deepwater hub in Asia-Pacific, with a manufacturing centre in Port Klang and a front-end design and Engineering hub in Kuala Lumpur.
