This Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) is part of my Basic Offshore Safety and Emergency Training (BOSET). The training that I attended includes re-breather and it was called Helicopter Underwater Escape Training with Re-Breather (HUET-R).
The duration of this training is 1 full day. Half day for theoretical and another half day for practical.
The aim of this training is to provide passengers with the helicopter emergency procedure, helicopter knowledge and skills necessary to react and to survive a helicopter ditching. Upon completion of this training, participant should be able to:
- Donning and operate correctly and breath normally using the re-breather
- Egress from a submerged and capsized helicopter safely using the re-breather
- Theoretical understanding of donning and operation of re-breather
- Know the principles of re-breather using compressed air and exhaled air
- Know the duration of re-breathing
- Know the floatation dynamics associated with re-breather
